Little Known Facts About Me

1. I can tap dance.

2. I can also swing dance.

3. In fact, I can do many dances. When I was a little girl, my dad wouldn't let me take dance lessons. When I was in my 30's, I finally took lots of them. It's never too late to do something you love! 

4. My first cat's name was Mokie, she was awesome, but that was over 15 years ago. I miss her terribly and think of her often. I loved her so much.

5. Now I live with Miss Mika and the Egg, who are both refuge cats. I love them too! They are the best entertainment committee ever!

6. The Egg snores. It's adorable. In fact, he's snoring as I type this.

7. My BFF forbids me to get more than two cats because I'll be crossing into Crazy Cat Lady territory. Right now, I'm just a Cat Lady, and as she says, still date-able.

8. My first teddy bear's name was Bear Bear. My little sister had an elephant named Elephant.

9. Now I have a bin of *stuffies* on my bed and I still play with them, given the chance. I have a secret desire to become a Muppeteer. Okay, now it's no longer secret.

10. I knew how to whistle when I was four years old.

11. I've loved singing as far back as I can remember.

12. The girl I stood beside when I was in the primary school choir sang horribly off-key.

13. I wrote a song for my *winter camp* counselor, Sleepy Owl, during a junior high school outing. Amazingly, I still remember that song.

14. I wrote a song about Louis David Riel as an assignment for my political science class in high school. I still remember that one too, kinda.

15. I learnt how to ride a bike when I was four years old.

16. My first bike was a little red number, I'll never forget her. My dad ran over her in the driveway with his station wagon.

17. I wrote a song about her.

18. I also wrote a speech about her and presented it in Toastmasters.

19. Then my little red bike became part of the eulogy that I gave for my dad. :-(

20. I don't eat innards.

21. The smell of my mom boiling liver still haunts me.  

22. My love of cooking comes from my mom. She cooked a lot of other things besides liver. Thank God.

23. I still remember how to triple jump, shot put, and pass the baton, things I learnt during track & field in primary school. I loved those days!

24. During high school, I only had one ear pierced and refused to pierce the other one until I was 25.

25. My left ear is pierced three times, two of the holes I did myself. Yes, it hurt ... a lot. But I was an angry, angst-filled teenager.

26. I was androgynous before Annie Lennox made it cool. I had short spiky hair and wore suits with ties. 

27. I was SUPER afraid of dogs when I was young. Once my neighbour bought ice cream cones for all the little kids when the ice cream truck came. But then a dog ran up to me and I was so scared, I dropped it. I was really sad.

28. I've made peace with dogs and now I love them, though I'm still more of a cat person because they are less likely to chew up my stuffies. And I can sleep in, kinda.

29. BACON !!! 

30. But I also love vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

31. Invite me out for Indian anytime. Actually, anything ethnic and I'm so there!

32. The only type of running shoe I wear is Asics 'cause I have narrow ankles at the back.

33. I am a mesomorph. One of my friends said that I get muscles just by combing my hair.

34. I tend to do activities intensively when I like them. I am an all-or-nothing type of gal.

35. I kick-boxed for over six years before a car accident almost killed me and left me too injured to continue.

36. I'm better now and have bought new boxing gloves.

37. I love the sound a boxing glove makes when it hits the sweet spot of a practice mitt. If you box or kickbox, you will know exactly what I mean.

38. My favourite film is "Singin' in the Rain". I love all those old musicals. They inspired my love for the performing arts.

39. I get fan mail, why do people send me fan mail? And why do they want my autograph? I really don't get it.

40. I only took six months of piano lessons when I was a kid but can still play ... kinda ... maybe ... okay, learning to play again is on my bucket list.

41. I'd love to play French Horn again one day (grew up playing). And would also like to learn to play cello. And guitar. Okay, more bucket list stuff.

42. I like to listen to the same CD over and over again until I finally get fed up days or weeks later and change it.

43. Sometimes I don't realize that I'm singing or humming out loud. And I make up a lot of stuff.

44. I wanted to be a rock star when I was younger but settled for being an actor since I thought I could make more money. 

45. I get a lot of good comments about my perfume ... White Musk from the Body Shop.

46. I met one of my good friends, who is sight and hearing challenged, when he smelt my perfume, his fave, from over 10 ft away and beelined towards me just to say hi.

47. I've met some really famous people along my way, but you'll never know who since I don't name drop. 

48. I'm grateful for my amazing friends who have loved and supported me through all the shit I've been through.

49. I still believe in that fairy tale type of love and think it can last forever with the right person. That, or I'm cynical as all hell and just want to stay at home and pet my cats ... and adopt more ... but then my BFF stops me.

50. I am WYSIWYG (who is old enough to remember that? What You See Is What You Get).

51. I would wear pyjamas all day long but it's not socially acceptable.

52. I once got PAID to wear my own pyjamas all day long on a commercial and it WAS socially acceptable.

53. If you're ever stuck on a present idea for me, get me cotton or flannel jammies, traditional style with buttons and a collar, size medium please. I'll love you forever.

54. I think a guy who can cook and dance and is a little geeky is awesome!

55. I'm tidy and organised but not a neat freak.

56. Self-deprecating humour adds a healthy perspective to life.

57. I believe the meaning of life is whatever you choose it to be.

58. I don't know if there's a heaven or a hell, and not knowing there is a heaven makes me sad because there are too many people I love who have died. But I do know there is good and bad.

59. In my secret bank account, I've got millions of dollars. Doh! Now it's not a secret any more ...

60. I don't like to grow my nails long. I find long nails get in my way and make an annoying clickety-clack sound on the keyboard.

61. I am really low maintenance ... my preference is no make-up, ponytail, and yoga pants (okay, I lie, I'd rather be in pyjamas).

62. I played Jaws with Barbie when I was little and ripped off her head.

63. I also pierced Barbie's ears with long straight pins since they had nice little "pearls" at the end.

64. I love polished stones, all sorts, precious and semi-precious, and prefer the colour silver over gold.

65. My hands and feet never get sweaty. On the down side, my skin cracks around my fingertips during winter. Ouch!

66. I have wavy hair. Got that from my mom.

67. My eyes are light brown, and in a certain light, have been called hazel. Got that from my mom too. I really miss her. She died from cancer. Fuck cancer.

68. I speak French fluently. My inspiration to learn was Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau's vision of Canada.

69. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is my MP (Member of Parliament). He sent me two birthday cards before he got criticized for sending cards to his constituents. There will always be naysayers. I miss my birthday cards from him.

70. I'm proud to be Canadian, but frick, the winters are cold. 

71. I'm a very undisciplined athlete and have been known to run marathons with no training, not even much of a base. It's stupid, I know, but I don't want to waste my entry fee.

72. My #1 reason for racing is finisher BLING.

73. When I signed up for my first Ironman triathlon as a member of a charity racing team, I had to get over my fear of water and learn to swim since I had committed to raising a lot of money.

74. I find a good way to fight depression is to distract oneself with projects. One of my friends remarked how the harder my life got, the bigger the project. Now you know why I did three Ironman triathlons. I'm currently working towards becoming the World Champion of Public Speaking.

75. I've played a mascot, Mario of Mario Bros. ... ha, cross THAT off my bucket list!
