What's New?

Mar 27. After a long hiatus following the passing of my son, I am finally writing again. Will catch you up soon on the years I've been silent ... it's been a really rough ride.

2010 - 2015

I've lost a lot of years spent in a bubble of grief, trying to deal with a reality gone awry. I'm still grieving. I will always grieve. But sometimes we need to Keep Moving Forward, if only to make things *feel* better ...

I'll fill in the years soon.

July 20. After a frustrating hiatus, I resume running!

May 27. Operation Triumph hosts Laughter with Sprinkles on Top, an improv comedy fundraiser to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society.

May 5. I still cannot run and so much need this emotional catharsis :-(

April 24. My beloved mother, Mei Ling Leung, passes away peacefully after a courageous 3-year battle with cancer.  My world goes silent but I want to scream!

April 16.  A hip injury dashes my chances to participate in the Ottawa Marathon.

Ask the IrongoddessMar 27.

My apologies.

It's been many years since I've written.

You see, my son passed away and my entire world stopped. I couldn't breathe anymore. And my heart bled until I realized it would never stop bleeding. And I felt overwhelmed by grief, a horrendously painful grief that screamed out ceaselessly and crushed me until I couldn't breathe anymore. And then I realized my heart was still gushing blood ... and I was so empty ... so empty ... yet so full of loss.

I haven't healed. I never will. A parent never heals from the tragic loss of his/her child. But I am learning to deal with the immensity of this unwanted change. Ever. So. Slowly.

Life goes on whether I want it to or not.

I'll be back to regular blogging again soon ...

Follow your bliss!

As a member of Operation Triumph, I raced Ironman Louisville 2008 in honour of my mother who was terminally ill with cancer and whom I loved dearly.  I believe in dreams and miracles and making things happen. Follow me on my journey as I train, live, laugh, love, and "tri" ... Nothing is impossible.

The Universe sent me a sign today ...

In my head, I'd decided to do the Ottawa Half Ironman this Saturday, and my tri friends had agreed that I should go for the longer distance over the sprint, but then I got sick last week and couldn't train.

I'm feeling better now after this short but intense virus and actually had a good training today (50k cycle). So, missing one intense training weekend out of an available five seriously nicks "cramming" for a Half Iron, so I decided to do the Sprint Tri instead to play it safe, 'cause you and I both know I haven't done the miles for a Half, and I still have a hip injury.

So, I go online and lo and behold ...

Coming up ...

May 29.
Ottawa Half Marathon. Been waylaid by hip issues. Gonna be speed walking this one unless I can get some run mileage in.

Don't know how feasible it is to continue racing unless this hip issue resolves itself. I keep hoping. Until then, one race at a time ...

May 14. Demo meeting for the new club Beyond Words Advanced Toastmasters. Details to come, I'm so excited!
